Know Before You Go: Iowa State vs. UNI

May 30, 2023

Ames, Iowa – With kickoff to the 132nd Cyclone football season this Saturday when Iowa State hosts UNI at 1 p.m., there are a few important changes that fans should be made aware of for the 2023 season to have an enjoyable game day experience, the biggest of which involve Jack Trice Stadium moving to cashless concessions and on-site parking due to CYTown construction.

Thanks to the incredible work of Elder Construction, the overhaul of parking lots C4-5 and D3-5 has been completed with the remaining lots slated to be finished ahead of the 2024 football season.

Beat the Heat

High temperatures are forecasted for kickoff on Saturday's game, and fans are encouraged to stay hydrated and moderate alcohol consumption. Fans may bring one 20 oz. unopened or empty bottle of water per person into the stadium. There are several bottle filling stations located throughout the stadium for fans to refill their bottles. The ground floor of the Jacobson Building is an air-conditioned area open to the public to escape the heat for a few minutes as needed.

Road Construction

For Saturday's game vs. UNI, the City of Ames has informed Iowa State to expect delays due to road construction for traffic on South 16th Street near Duff Avenue.

Parking Overview

All parking lots will open 6 hours prior to kickoff, but not earlier than 6 a.m. Single-game car parking is pre-sold in advance of gameday. Purchase single-game parking passes here.

The grass parking lots along South 16th Street South of Jack Trice Stadium, along with the paved lot at the College of Veterinary Medicine will be right turn only during post-game traffic egress.

There are several parking lots on campus to park free of charge that are within a mile of Jack Trice Stadium, however, tailgating is not permitted in campus parking lots. A map of on campus parking may be found at: https://www.parking.iastate.edu/files/documents/ISU%20Weekend%20Football%20Parking%20Map-no%20tailgating%20mobile_2.pdf

General Public RV parking may be available at the Haunted Forest lot that is just off South 4th Street east of Jack Trice Stadium. For more information on this lot, please contact the owner at 515-249-0553 or 319-350-1668. Please note this is private land and is not under the direction of Iowa State Athletics. PARKING POLICIES

Lot Openings

Please do not arrive more than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled opening of the parking lots. Cars staged or parked near the entrance of each lot may be asked to move until 30 minutes in advance of the lots scheduled opening. On average, our data shows that only 20% of the stalls are filled within the first two hours of lots opening.

No tailgating is permitted until the lots are open and any vehicle entering the lots prior to the scheduled opening times may be subject to tow.

Saving Spaces

Saving parking spaces for other motorists is not permitted in any lot. Parking in lots is on a first come, first served basis except in lots with reserved and numbered spaces.

Use of Space/Travel Lanes

It is important to make every space available to use for parking as the number of access passes available per lot equals the numbers of stalls available. Automobiles and RVs may park only in designated areas. In order to efficiently use every parking lot, specific locations are assigned for automobiles and RVs. Your parking pass entitles you to use of one parking space.

The use of a parking space for other reasons, such as portable grills, games tents, chairs, etc. is not permitted in non-reserved areas. For reserved parking lots, a parking space used for other reasons is only permitted if a parking pass is presented for specific space not used for vehicle.

Vehicles have the right of way in designated red travel lanes within the parking lots. Any tailgating equipment, tents, chairs or other items must be moved from travel lanes as vehicles pass through the lots. Parking lot staff can ask patrons to move or relocate any equipment they deem to be disruptive. Failure to comply may result in removal from the parking lots or loss of future parking access.

Uber/Lyft/Rideshare, etc.

Please use the Lot F drive lane near CY Stephens Auditorium for rideshare pick up/drop off locations.

Illegal Parking

Parking on city streets or the road shoulder of city streets is not permitted and improperly parked vehicles may be subject to ticketing or tow.

Fines for illegal parking are $40 in the neighborhoods surrounding the stadium. Here's a link to more info.

CASHLESS TRANSACTIONS

Jack Trice Stadium is now accepting card and mobile payment ONLY at concession stands and merchandise for all Iowa State home games. The cashless model allows for less contact and a safer environment between staff members and fans. Going cashless will also help create quicker transaction times, lower wait times and allows our stadium to operate more efficiently, making the fan experience even better than before.
