Jamal Murray makes cameo appearance in music video for Jack Harlow's "Denver"
Today in “Things You Didn’t Expect to Read”, Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray linked up with Louisville rapper Jack Harlow for a very brief cameo appearance in Harlow’s brand-new music video.
On Wednesday, Harlow released the visual component for his song “Denver”, which is one of the top tracks from his latest album Jackman. It’s a short track — only 2:38 in length — but it provided enough time for Harlow to sneak in a quick cameo from Murray, who played one season at Kentucky (2015-16) before heading off the NBA.
Murray makes his appearance around the 1:30 mark of the video. He doesn’t do much other than stand in front of Harlow for a second before the two are seen laughing with the song playing over the clip. Both Murray and Harlow are represented by New Balance and have ties to Kentucky, so the connection came naturally.
It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it’s always cool to see former Wildcats featured in pop culture. John Calipari sparked Kentucky’s affiliation with the hip-hop world through his friendships with Drake and Lil Wayne. Murray is helping push that through to the next generation with Harlow. You might remember Harlow had an entire song called “Tyler Herro”. Herro made an appearance in that music video, too.

Harlow’s album Jackman was his third studio album, which he released in April 2023. The album was met with mixed to positive reviews and was his third top-10 album in the United States after debuting at No. 8 on the US Billboard 200.
As for Murray, the 26-year-old is coming off his best season yet in the NBA. After missing the entire 2021-22 season with a torn ACL, he returned better than ever in 2022-23. Murray averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game for the Nuggets as the secondary star next to two-time MVP Nikola Jokic. Murray was a key component in Denver winning its first-ever national championship earlier this summer.
You can watch the full music video below. I’m biased as this is my personal favorite song on the album, but I very much enjoyed the music video for it. Murray making an appearance was just a nice surprise.
