CM Labs Simulations, a leading vendor for simulation-based training in the construction and ports industries, today announced the launch of enhanced Ship-To-Shore (STS) Crane Simulator Training Pack, with added features based on feedback from CM Labs’ customers and industry experts. A mainstay in a successful port training program, the updated STS features an enhanced graphics engine, multiple crane sizes, support for various delivery methods, as well as the ability to modify ship orientation. The updated training pack also provides support for distinct port operations, such as simultaneous loading and unloading of cargo.

“Every port operates slightly differently. With this update to the STS, we wanted to make sure that the training addresses the operations needs of various port environments,” said Devon Van de Kletersteeg, CM Labs’ product manager, ports. “With the enhancements, trainees will have a much deeper immersive experience and instructors will be able to more closely replicate the existing port environment. Combining the new features with the underlying power of the physics-based CM Labs’ Smart Training Technology, the STS is the most accurate and realistic offering on the market today.”

Smart Training Technology is comprised of CM Labs’ proprietary and patented algorithms. Built on a high-fidelity real-time physics engine, it includes a mechanical engineering layer with multi-body constraints, transmission, cables, and other real-time simulation features that are unique on the market. This results in training that are based on real data and real machines.

CM Labs’ STS provides a comprehensive training program on a wide range of ship sizes and load types, enabling port operators to master the complex skills required for efficient operations. Simulation-based training does not interrupt the use of real equipment, translating into fewer safety incidents, faster ship turnaround time, and optimal equipment utilization. New operators learn to use the equipment effectively, safely, and efficiently.
